I’ve been taking omega 3 fish oil supplements for a long time, to me it seems pretty obvious, and the evidence is overwhelming, that our diet is too low in omega 3 fatty acids and we need to introduce more of them in our diet. And that our intake of omega 3 fats is directly linked to our health in so many ways.

But recently I spoke to a friend about this and he told me he wouldn’t take supplements. That supplements are unproven, and not mainstream medicine, and that they weren’t something you ought to take. So I thought I’d discuss that.

Because there seems to be the perception that dietary supplements are a bit of voodoo, something that makes money for the people who make them, but quite unnecessary.

And plenty of people also see the taking of dietary supplementation as “alternative” and not recognized by the medical profession. That real people won’t take them.

So lets see if any medical authorities accept dietary supplementation with Omega 3 oils as worthwhile.

The American Heart Association, no less, says that, and I quote,

“Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of ” or who have ” cardiovascular disease.”

And they offer recommendations for the intake of omega 3 fats. Their recommendations are that we eat around 2 servings of fish a week. They also suggest eating other sources of omega 3 acids like tofu, soybeans and various oils like canola.

And they are quite specific about people with CHD (coronary heart disease). They should eat at least 1 gram of EPA and DHA per day, and for those who need to lower their triglycerides its suggested that they take from 2 to 4 grams of EPA and DHA as capsules, doctor supervised.

So that’s pretty clear isn’t it. The AHA recommends the intake of a distinct amount of omega 3 fats each day, and recognize the benefits of this for heart health. They also accept the intake of Omega 3 fatty acids by capsule.

Now of course if you can take your omega 3 oils through your diet that’s great. Cheaper and a good way to do it. But that isn’t always quite so easy. Here’s an example.

There is omega 3 in something most of us eat every day. Beef and lamb. Well there is if they are grass fed, but as most of the beef and lamb we eat daily is now grain fed there isn’t much omega 3 fats in them now.

So getting enough good fats like omega 3 fats through diet alone isn’t as easy as you might expect.

And if you’re wondering where the mainstream medical acceptance of Omega 3 supplementation is, start with the AHA. They’re pretty mainstream. There’s nothing ‘alternative” about taking Omega 3 capsules to the AHA.

Choosing Omega 3 Capsules? Confused?

July 4th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Supplements
by Peter Bertonich

With all the talk of EPA and DHA and ALA, how do you choose your Omega 3 capsules?

And it gets worse when you start reading all about converting ALA to DHA, then about long chain and short chain fats and so on.

For example a reader recently asked me about how to choose his omega 3 fish oil capsules. He was confused about the difference between long chain and short chain Omega 3 fats, and confused about which were the best Omega 3 supplements.

It’s understandable how he got confused and so I’ll talk a little about it and then tell you how to go about choosing your Omega 3 fish oil supplements.

There’s the 3 main Omega 3 fats, DHA, EPA and ALA. They are all good for you but the most important by far is DHA.

You find ALA in plant foods like flax seeds but you find DHA and EPA in sources like fish. ALA is the least important and whilst ALA is a short chain fatty acid DHA is a long chain fatty acid. It gets complicated here, so I’ll stop with the chemistry.

The most important Omega 3 fat that you need is DHA and that comes from fish oil capsules, along with EPA. No need for flax seed capsules.

All fish oil supplements have DHA.

So are all fish oil supplements the same? How do you choose between them?

Theres 2 things you need to look for to find the best rated Omega 3 fish oil capsules. You need to look for the quantity of DHA in the capsules, and the purity of the oil.

You look for the quantity as all fish oil capsules have DHA, but in different amounts. Thus you cannot just look for the cheapest fish oil capsules without knowing how much DHA is in them.

So if you look at supplements that are half the price of some others they may seem good value, but if you get a third of the DHA they aren’t.

And thats not all, you need to consider the purity of the oils too, because, sad to say, many of our fish are contaminated with toxins. You wouldnt want to take Omega 3 capsules with traces of mercury and PCBs would you?

That’s all you need to consider when choosing Omega3 supplements.

But actually doing that comparison isn’t as easy as you’d think and you may struggle. I have run the sums and one brand comes up as the best fish oil supplement on both DHA quantity and also on oil purity.

I tell you which brand on my website.

The Health Benefits of Citrus Juice

Many people are aware of the benefits of juicing but do not know the significant benefits that citrus juice has to offer. Human beings are one of the few species that does not make its own supply of Vitamin C. This vitamin has a number of benefits to health.

Many of the illnesses we suffer from today, such as viruses and cancer, are thought to be due to the lack of Vitamin C in our diet. This is because it naturally destroys the free radicals that enters our body and damages the cells. Many thousands of years ago we ate much more fruit than we do today. Our bodies are perfectly adapted to picking and grasping fruit from the ground and trees.

It is believed our bodies compensated by producing less of this important vitamin until today where we produce none. This causes us a problem as the modern diet contains very little fruit and, as such, our Vitamin C intake is inadequate.

We can reverse this trend by juicing which allows us to take in our essential nutrients. It is also fast, enjoyable and refreshing and even your kids will like it. It can also save you money as there is no need to spend money regularly on expensive vitamins and nutrients.

The eminent scientist and Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling has been one of the greatest supporters of Vitamin C in the diet. He did, however, recommend very large amounts which has been generally thought nowadays not to be required. He was a firm believer that many of the illnesses we suffer from today were due to a lack of this chemical.

Fruits such as oranges and lemons contain large amounts of Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid. Each orange contains about 50mg of ascorbic acid per 100 grams of fruit. There is about 70mg per slice. The health authorities recommend a daily allowance of 60mg. this, however, is only the minimal amount to prevent scurvy, the classical disease that causes bleeding gums.

Buying a citrus juicer is a good way to start juicing and investing in your health. As you can see, essential nutrients can be obtained in this manner in a healthy, natural way.

What really is massage therapy? Many associated it as part of the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The popularity of massage has grown tremendously in the last 10 years. Many ordinary people are recognizing the benefits to receiving natural treatments for restoring their health. By definition, massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues. This is done with different movements and pressures. Many of these techniques date back thousands of years in their origin.

The root meaning of the term massage is friction and kneading. Kneading is a squeezing motion and friction is the associated heat generated from this action. This combination is at the heart of what massage therapy is all about.

Massage therapy can be found in most civilizations throughout time. Since the beginning of recorded history, there has been evidence of massage therapy. Many techniques were developed from these ancient roots. The history of mankind has always been to find ways to restore and maintain health.

Clearly, massage therapy has been used throughout the world to help restore health to the body. Many of these civilizations develop very distinct types of massage techniques. Each technique brings about slightly different benefits.

Perhaps you have had a massage. If so then you might have had a shiatsu, Swedish or deep tissue massage. Then you understand the variety of treatment options available to relieve stress and tension. It is pretty amazing of the variety of distinct types of techniques available to everyone.

The theory of massage therapy is to use movements and pressure to relieve tension, stiffness and discomfort in the body. Different parts of the body require different types of techniques or movements. Also, different techniques integrated complementary treatments to provide additional benefits.

Slowly there are beginning to be some studies of massage therapy. Most studies show a correlation between relaxing the mind and relieving tension in the body. It is critical for the body to have time to recuperate after physical activity. Also it is important for the mind to have quiet time.

A recent study that we reviewed showed that 60% of those receiving massage therapy reported lower levels of pain than the control group. Many of the physical monitoring statistics showed lower blood pressure and decreases in the average heart rate. Many also reported feeling less anxious and less overall stress.

One study that we reviewed showed that the participants receiving massage therapy reported less pain than that not receiving massage therapy. They also had a lower average heart rate and blood pressure than those not receiving these treatments. It should also be noted that the massage therapy must be given on a periodic basis similar to exercise.

The intuitive benefits of massage therapy are obvious and confirmed by the rising popularity of these treatments. The fact that these treatments have been used for thousands of years provides a body of knowledge. Many people are looking for a natural way to maintain their health. There are a tremendous variety of natural treatment options to choose from.

Massage therapy continues to grow as people recognize the benefits of receiving natural treatments. Although the clinical studies are lacking, in time Western medical science will catch up with studying the techniques developed from antiquity. Many people are not waiting for the scientific results because they intuitively understand the benefits of receiving frequent massage treatments.

15. Don’t watch TV during meals, and snacks, too. It’s believed that we’ll eat more in front of TV, reason being that we may be less aware of what’s going through our mouth. Enjoy your meals, and nothing else.

The MMS Health Benefits

The miracle mineral supplement of Jim Humble has been under the limelight for several years now. It had enough time to create its own name and market awareness whether it’s effective or not. The incredible MMS supplement has been very active in engaging its loyal buyers to come out with hopeful testimonials and releasing positive news about the product. Despite of the aggressive scientific literature and marketing campaign, the customers still have apprehensions of using the said product. In this light, we are making efforts to educate the people through this article to show its readers the stages involved in the expedition of this miracle compound within the body from start to finish.

Overview

After swallowing the stimulated MMS, this compound goes through the body’s bloodstream. The said MMS will get rid off approximately 3 - 5 electrons briefly after the first formation it encounters with a ph value of 7 or below. Based from numerous independent studies, chlorine dioxide has an exceptional quality of specifically aiming only the acidic elements within the body, and subsequently oxidizing them. It is assured that the body tissues stay intact and unharmed throughout the process.

Ok, let’s now discuss how the process starts.

The blood vessels in the stomach initially take the chlorine dioxide compound to allow it to enter the main blood stream. The peripheral tissues take in the compound through diffusion on its way through the digestive tract. Upon its entry to the blood stream, it combines with the red blood cells with a fresh supply of oxygen. Traveling in this manner, upon encountering a pathogen (identifies the pathogens on the basis of low ph and a positive charge) it neutralizes them.

Consequently, it is readily accepted by the red blood cells, together with all of the fresh new oxygen, and transferred in this way until it comes across a pathogen with the suitable electrical charge upon entering the blood stream. This further results to neutralization where any adverse parasite, virus or diseased tissue that is encountered, or anything with a low ph and a positive charge for that matter, are deactivated upon contact.

The lack of Hypochlorus acid causes a deficiency called myeloeroxidase deficiency which is a predecessor of the auto immune disease in most individuals. This hypochlorus acid is required in great quantities during sickness; hence MMS can be used to augment its concentration inside the body to help the body to gain its natural state of well being.

Needless to say, hypochlorus acid is very significant within the body. The insufficiency of this substance is known as myeloeroxidase eficiency. Individuals diagnosed with this condition have often suffered with various forms of auto immune conditions at the latter stage of their medication. The pre-requisites for hypochlorous shoots up when sickness strikes the body. Fittingly, this would be the time to efficiently take MMS since it will definitely give a substantial kick start.

Hypochlorus acid is instrumental in strengthening the body’s immune system. Myeloeroxidase deficiency is the medical term referring to the body’s lack of hypochlorous acid. People who are diagnosed of this condition is expectedly crippled with auto-immune conditions due to the failure of safeguarding the body against the onslaught of pathogens and progress of diseases. One way of supplying the body with enough hypochlorous is by taking MMS daily.

The entire process is completed in a few hours. There are no by products of the process except a bit of water and carbon dioxide inside the body. It’s quite rare for a medical intervention to have such a powerful effect on the elimination of pathogens and yet have no side effects.

Undoubtedly, MMS is a powerful medicine!

Just How Effective Is The Miracle Mineral Suplement?

June 29th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Supplements
by Lee Jacobs

Strangely enough, when our overall wellbeing starts to deteriorate, we more often than not tend to overlook what could be considered one of the leading causes, and that is, what we eat and what we fails to eat. From a biological point of view, much of the food we eat passes through without being adequately digested. Of course, this can be due to a number of reasons such as: overeating, insufficient chewing, an inadequate amount of the vitamins and minerals, consuming too much of certain foods, inherited medical condition, or even an emotional imbalance.

An area that is prominent to the breakdown of one’s health in many cases occurs when food is broken down poorly. This has two main outcomes; an uncontrolled growth of deleterious bacteria within the small intestine which leads to putrefaction in the large colon. A large part of the immune response is driven from the small intestine, with the appendix being instrumental within this equation. This is typically called GALT, being an acronym for Gut Associated Lymphoid Tissue. Before chronic disease finally sets in, there will be a war waged for a number of years between the ever increasing negative disease promoting bacteria and immune cells - all the while creating more and more chronic inflammation within this part of the body.

Because this undesirable activity starts at quite an early stage in your life, if you’re susceptible, you’ll soon start experiencing digestive disorders as well as intestinal problems. Alarmingly enough, these disorders can lead to gut permeability at a relatively early age, thus resulting in various allergies and auto immune problems as proteins which have not being digested properly, are allowed to pass unchecked into the bloodstream. Unless you take action, gut permeability will more often than not end up causing conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammation driven conditions.

As we age, over stimulated bowels as a youth often lead to constipation later on in life. Unfortunately, this is often accompanied with diverticulitis and hard crust-like deposits developing on the bowel lining due to the lack of bowel tone.

Essentially, when you neglect your bowel continuously for many years, harmful byproducts are then able to enter the bloodstream through the weakened barrier. When this happens, the liver, the heart, and the brain will be the first to suffer and it will happen in that particular order. The most common symptoms experienced are: irregular heartbeat, lack of concentration, frequent and chronic headaches. In fact, one should not be surprised if one encounters total liver failure.

The bowel can be likened to a city that has poor sewerage - if the waste is allowed to spill over into the streets and places of residence then it is inevitable that many will fall ill with disease. If one’s bowel in congested and not working properly, waste materials begin to build up, and illness is quick to ensue.

A diet which is primarily raw can go a long way in correcting the problem over a period of time. In fact, ground linseed added to meals will help to ensure bowel stimulation. Essentially, everyone should have at least one or more bowel movements each day. This is necessary in order to ensure that waste is expelled as soon as possible before toxins have a chance to cause problems.

As an adjunct to cleaning the body by addressing what we put into our mouths, there is a supplement called MMS which when activated is a very powerful anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti parasitic compound, and is a powerful tool to use in addition to the suggestions made above.

Remember, to overcome these modern chronic diseases, we need to address our eating habits, learn how to combine foods properly, learn how to chew, eat less food, eat a greater amount of raw food, and chill out - stress kills!
